Week 2
October 02, 2015
It's crazy how fast she grows! I really don't notice it as much, but other people who only see her once a week comment on it. It's bitter sweet when people say "she's getting so big!" because it means she isn't as much of a newborn any more. Everyone keeps saying "these times go by so fast" and I believe them.
The conversations around our place consist mainly of her diaper changes and how much she's eating. Oh yeah, and that we're tired. And how cute she is. We talk about how cute she is all the time. Because she's adorable!
Another thing we're figuring out is what's necessary and what's not. When we were registering we were just guessing. I was very heavy on the style of things, and less so on functionality (in my defense, there is no way we could possibly have known what to get!). And while I still love stylish baby gear, functionality is the most important! A few of our faves are Burt's Bees Bibs, Avdent pacifiers, our wipe warmer, cute onsies (Carter's is the best!), plenty of blankets, Munchkin swaddle blankets (my friend and fellow mom gave them to me because she loved them so much) and burp cloths. My mom had made 30 gorgeous burp cloths. I didn't think we'd need that many, but man have they come in handy. We use them for burping, for setting down on the changing table, over an arm chair for if she spits up, and it's just handy to have them everywhere, and a ton, so you don't have to wash them every other day.
Oh, and the importance of a great diaper bag. My chartreuse Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag is perfect! Easy to organize, great changing station, and it looks great!
Her hair is growing so fast! It's starting to stick up here and no matter what we do it doesn't stay down (and we don't do much, because that's pretty adorable).
The little kitty slippers are from my mom. As soon as my mom and dad found out it was a girl they sent a little package in the mail for her and these were included. They're so cute.
For the first month we had her in a bassinet during the day as well as night. The beige speaker thing in the top left corner is a sound machine. I'm actually not sure if she likes it or not, but we always keep it on.
There was a lunar eclipse one night. It was supposed to be a big deal, so Justin and I walked out to try and see it, but we couldn't. It was so nice having my mom there, because we could just jump in the car and go somewhere with our built in baby sitter taking care of Gweneth! :) So we drove and tried to find a view. We actually found a great place. This photo doesn't do it justice, but I'll always remember it as our first little outing together, just the two of us, after Gweneth was born.
A close up shot of those burp cloths I was talking about. They're so pretty, right?
Only a week and a half old and she had her first outing! Fuddruckers was perfect, since it's one of our favorite places! She was so good. She loves her car seat and falls asleep as soon as she's in it.
Sometimes she loves her bath, sometimes she hates it, but she's so cute in her little towel!
