The Holidays
April 06, 2015
This holiday season we had the opportunity to go to Michigan for six weeks. We got there mid-November, right before Thanksgiving. And there was a ton of snow on the ground! Ginger is a great photographer, so we grabbed a few shots for holiday cards.
Cali is so funny! She's bigger and has more personality every time we see her! This time she was big into glasses (even though she doesn't need them) and dressing herself!
We have some remote control helicopters at my parents house, and Justin showed Cali how to use one.
Results from a mini bundt cake pan my mom got (so good!!!).
Both Justin and Gimmy's birthdays are in November, so every year we celebrate them together when we get to Michigan. Did you know Fuddruckers gives you a free sundae on your birthday? Cali will sit with whoever has ice cream. She told the person running the bakery that Justin and Gimmy were "her buds". Haha!!!
Justin's sister Ursie came for Thanksgiving. We had so much fun, everyone loved her. She fits in so well with our family!
We went to the Dodge Mansion, which is so cool!
Thanksgiving! My mom always makes an amazing dinner!!! I buy pies.
I would go with Ginger most days to pick Cali up from pre-school, and she'd try and get a Sam's trip almost every time! The pretzels are pretty amazing...
Linda was finishing her chemo for the year when we were there, so one day Ginger, Cali and myself joined her and my mom up at the dr.'s office!
It was so nice to be able to hang out with Ginger and Mike on a regular basis (move to California please!).
Cali loves to come over to Honey Gram's! On this visit we were decorating the front hall tree.
My grandparents do a Christmas Caroling thing at their house every year, and this was the first time we were actually here to go to it!
For my birthday this year I wanted to get dessert at The Whitney, a historic place in downtown Detroit.
Game night!
We took an impromptu trip down to Nashville to visit the Blairs! And we got to spend some time with Nancy, Mike, Caitlin and Karsten as well!
Christmas! We have been doing Christmas all day in our pajamas for a couple of years now, and it's the best decision we every made!
We have a ton of "indoor snowballs" and Nerf guns. So Christmas morning turns into a crazy (and if you're me, anxiety filled) fight.
And then later we chill out in the basement. The pancake pitchworm sketch is a rendition done by Justin of something Suzy guessed during a game of Telestrations.
My parent's heat went out when we were there. Twice!
Amy and her boys!
New years!
We did a gift exchange with Cali at Fuddruckers right before we left. My mom made her a blanket and got her a fox pillow. Justin and I gave her a Whole Foods gift card. I know, and she's only four, but she loves Whole Foods.
