I live about 15 minutes from the beach, yet when summer comes I rarely go. I love the beach, although I don't go in the water because a) I'm afraid of a fish brushing up against my leg and b) the water is freezing. But I do love sitting on the beach, having snacks and magazines and just looking out at the ocean and hearing the waves and I want to make it a point this summer to take advantage of it. As it stands now, I don't even have a bathing suit. I bought one last summer from Target, but I put it in the washer and it made it totally unwearable.
