Gemma Jane is here!
March 28, 2017
Born on March 28th, 2017 (my dad's birthday!). She weighed 6lb 9oz and was 19.25 inches long. She has tons of hair, just like her sister did when she was born (although much darker).
I don't want to forget the day so I'm going to list it out.
7:00am - Woke up to my water breaking.
7:45am - Gweneth woke up just as we were getting our stuff together to leave. Which was great because I was about to wake her up anyway. There was no way I was going to have a baby and be in the hospital for a day or two without cuddling her.
8:15am - In triage room. They hook me up, check all the vitals, etc., and the Dr. Pearson came in and I was at a 5, so they took me to an actual room.
9:00am - My water had broken earlier, but, to put it in Dr. Pearson's words, "it was kind of weak". I guess they call it a leak. So he broke my water for real.
9:10am - I start to actually feel contractions. They weren't bad at first, so I thought I could get away with not doing an epidural.
9:20am - I tell Justin to get the nurse and tell her I want en epidural.
9:50am - Dr. Pearson said since I had the epidural it made sense to do pitocin.
10:00am - 12:30pm - Justin and I hung out in the room, I couldn't really feel contractions, just a bit of pressure.
12:35pm - The contractions all of a sudden got insane.
12:45pm - Dr. Pearson came in and they had me push. They ended up using a vacuum, but all I remember is being in a lot of pain, and closing my eyes, and pushing with what seemed like a bunch of people in the room saying "push!!!". The contractions were pretty painful... I remember crying a lot...
1:10pm - I feel a baby pop out of me! And the pain was gone! He held her up, I remember Justin taking pics and then Dr. Pearson asking if he wanted to cut the cord. I have no memory what-so-ever of Justin actually doing that, but he did.
1:12pm - They hand me Gemma. It's so surreal, and the first thing I thought was that she looked like Gweneth. Justin said the same thing, however about 10 minutes later she really didn't have a resemblance to anyone.
2:15pm - They took us to the recovery room.
Justin went and picked up my mom and Gweneth. I was kind of worried how Gweneth would react, but she was super excited to see a baby! She was so funny and so cute.
Gemma got to meet Honey Gram.
And Gweneth loved sipping water from this massive container.
Justin's family came up later in the evening to meet her.
We only had to stay one night, and were very ready to leave the next day!
