I got Lasik!
February 21, 2008So, with my Singing Bee money, I got Lasik yesterday. If you can afford it I highly recommend it! The procedure wasn't bad, but not at all what I expected. I thought that I would lie on a table and a laser would come down, make a cut and then a laser would go in and re-shape my cornea. Which it did, but there was a lot more of instruments touching my eyes than I had envisioned. I had it done at 4:45 yesterday, and today, at 9:45 I can see! I wasn't worried until like, right before it happened and then started to worry that what if long term effects included blindness? Like, since it's so new that in like, forty years people who have gotten Lasik will just start going blind. I mean, not that I've ever heard of that. The only down side is that I can't wear eye makeup for three weeks. But a small price to pay for the gift of sight.

Yea! Good for you! I know several people who have been so pleased with their lasik surgeries. I'm glad you were able to do it and glad that you're able to see!
ReplyDeleteYay! I got Lasik in April of last year and LOVE it. I was 20/400 and am now 20/15. I'm so glad you decided to do that. Do you get to wear the 'cool' goggles?
ReplyDeleteSOOOO fun!!! You will love it! I had the same reaction when I had it done...I was like..."wait a minute...there's a lot more involved than I bargained for, people!" I wore lots of cute hats when I couldn't wear eye make up =)
ReplyDeleteI was blog hopping and found you and have been reading! Lasik is not really that new, it's been used for over 30 yrs. My grandfather had it done when I was a year old (so we're talking 30 yrs now). He was the 3rd person in the world to have it done at that point, but as the years go and all the technology that's came out, they are able to do it easier and faster and offer it to so many people at far more affordable prices!
ReplyDeleteI'd love ot have it done, but it's not possible for me unfortunately. Enjoy your glasses free-contact free life! :)
