Ginger's Camp Wedding Week
November 01, 2013
Justin and I got back Sunday from a whirlwind week in Michigan! It was Ginger's wedding (lifelong friend / like a sister!) and I was the Maid of Honor and Justin and I were the photographers.
As a dutiful MOH, I was with Ginger almost every day. And since there was a ton to do, we were both getting up super early. Easier for her because she's a teacher, but me, not so much...
Below is photo of Ginger and I at the height of our coolness. Me with my denim jumper and swept back hair, and Ginger showing the world how wispy bangs and small collar sunflowers are done.
And here we are today. Still pretty cool.
One day while Ginger was working I went up with my mom to check out the camp. My mom and her friend Kathy were working on decorating the lodge, so I got to walk around the camp by myself.
I've been here tons of times. Ginger and I grew up going here and it was always one of the best parts of the summer. We'd get up early, have tons of activities, make super cool keychains in leather crafts, and then make more, yet different, keychains in arts and crafts. There was also a rock'n fair at the end of the camp week, which I loved.
Ginger and I once did "specialty week". You sign up for a class and learn a skill for the week. I signed up for "Beauty for God", a class about makeup, and Ginger did "underwater basket weaving". "Beauty for God" was canceled since only one person signed up, so I took "magic". Ginger ended the week with her two other class mates showing off their newly made baskets.
That was the only year we did specialty week.
Anyway! It was cool to be able to walk around camp with no one else there! I put a few of the iPhone shots I got below.
The Saturday before her wedding we had a little girls outing!
Some more camp pictures.
Here's my mom and one of her good friends from high school Kathy. They worked super hard, and made everything look vintage-y and beautiful!
Also, the camp bathrooms smell exactly like they did back when we went here, like, forever ago! (Ahh! I know, my hands are like talons!)
I loved that they had their wedding at camp! The old cabins, the lake, and it was fall! So there were all these gorgeous colors! I love these yellow leaves!
We totally lucked out on their wedding day. It was calling for all sorts of crazy weather. 50mph winds, rain all day. Instead it was a little windy, a little chilly, and really only rained during the ceremony (which was inside).
These are just a few snapshots from my phone, but you can see their wedding post on our photography blog right here! (their engagement photos at Greenfield Village are here).
