Last week I attended Joy Harmon Prouty's Wildflowers Workshop. Joy is a fantastically gifted photographer (also in Southern California) whose work we've admired for a long time, so when I saw she was having a workshop I jumped at the opportunity!

It was ladies only, so Justin went in drag and NOBODY noticed. The workshop was such a blessing and more amazing than I could ever have imagined. Joy was so generous and shared so much of herself. She is a true artist with the hugest heart and it pours out into her photos. She's absolutely inspired us to make our photography even more personal and telling our clients stories in the most sincere way through photos.

We all met up in Round Top, TX, population 90. Joy had found this AMAZING location, Rachel Ashwell's The Prairie, and it was GORGEOUS!!! It was country and sophisticated, and shabby chic, and everything you've seen in every Home & Garden magazine and wanted to duplicate!

Most of us didn't actually sleep at the Prairie though, and myself and a few others stayed at The Farmhouse Round Top. It was this adorable little house in the middle of nowhere (and by the way, the middle-of-nowhere thing isn't as adorable at night since I was convinced a murderer would come in, free to take his time, since, you know, we're in the middle of nowhere...) but it had so much character! If you follow us on Instagram you know I was going Instagram-crazy!

The Prairie!!! This really was a photographer's Heaven. There was so much texture and character everywhere you looked... I so want to go back. We also had the best food while we were there! I LOVE BBQ and pie, and that's pretty much what we ate for three days!!!

This town loved pie. We had breakfast one morning at this adorable little restaurant called Pie Haven.

Joy set up three photo shoots while we were there. The first was in this large shabby chic barn with this adorable family. The boys were true cowboys! The boy was so funny and had tons of energy, catching frogs and whacking grass with sticks like we weren't even there. The little baby was so cute in her little vintage dress and we were all loving the mom's lacy dress with her cowboy boots!

The following day we shot this stunning couple. Joy had given it a "playing house" theme. We got to utilize so many gorgeous aspects of the Prairie, including this tiny little green house that's in some of my favorite pics!

Our final shoot was of Joy's kids. It was bitter-sweet because it was our last shoot! We were all so sad to be wrapping up. Joy's girls were perfect little models (how adorable are they???). She does have an adorable little boy as well, but for some reason twenty ladies shooting cameras at him made him want to hide.

I am so grateful for that opportunity. Along with Joy's wisdom, I feel like all of the girls really bonded, and we now have this close-knit community of photographers, all excited to share and encourage each other. Relationships I think I'll have for life.

And again, a HUGE thank you to Joy Harmon Prouty!!!
