A Lovely Afternoon
April 17, 2012Back in February Justin and I visited with our new friend Paul Carlson. He's been an illustrator with Disney for over 50 years, and has a lot of stories to tell (he even worked with Walt!).
He invited us over not too long ago and gave us a tour of his studio and showed us some of the work he's done over the years (he was one of the illustrators for Tony the Tiger and Mr. Magoo, and has done a lot of the How-to-Draw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck books etc. because Walt liked the way he lettered!). With his years at Disney and his freelancing, he has a very interesting past.
It was so much fun to hang out with him (while his cat checked us out from a distance), he is so sweet and it was so generous of him to share his time and all of his stories. He's worked on Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations, even Lady and the Tramp (he was of the illustrators of the famous scene where they eat the spaghetti and then kiss!).
He even drew a special Lady and the Tramp picture just for us! We were so honored!
Thanks Paul for such an amazing day!!!
