It rarely rains here in L.A., so when it does, people lose it. Seriously. They don't know what to do with themselves except lock themselves inside and pray for sun. It's also the only thing on the news, and that's where Californians really show how out of touch they are weather-wise. The other day on the local NBC news they cut to a reporter outside in the rain. She was freaking out (perhaps how people would have reacted in the days of Noah, when it actually did rain for the first time in those people's lives), and said "I have been on movie sets before where they have made it rain, and this is just like that!". Really? I'm pretty sure the movies are the ones trying to mimic nature, not the other way around. I love that she gets all of her facts from movie sets. I also saw a news story on a bunny that couldn't get across a pond because the bridge a local woman had built for it (yes, she built a bridge just for the bunny) was washed away by the rain. Something tells me the bunny will be okay (either way), but glad that the news covered that one!

I personally am loving and am very thankful for the rain. Fortunately I am not by any mudslides or flash floods, and am not a small creature without a bridge. It's great to hear the rain, not have my apartment heat up and wear sweatshirts and scarves. It feels like winter.

In other awesome news, I noticed something new on TV the other day. During the day the local NBC channel has started it's own talk show thing. It's basically a local anchor doing his own CNN/Access Hollywood type of thing, and it's kind of lame. The best part is for the weather forecast, they've decided to use local choirs to sing it. It's kind of like when you're a kid and you're doing something and you just make the words up as you go along, the only thing is they present is as though it's awesome. It reminds me of my days in Abilene when I would see commercials made with three out of it college students and a handy cam (engagement ring in the ice cream anyone?). I've included a choir weather forecast for your viewing.

  1. Hands down, the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Maybe even more awesome that the commercial for silk screening t-shirts made in the campus center.

  2. I love that commercial! What was it they said? I remember they said something awesome at the end that made them super cool.
