Today is my parent's 33rd wedding anniversary. My parents dated for six weeks before getting engaged and got married six months later. They are one of the best examples of a successful marriage that I know. Growing up they made sure to be an example to my brother and I by always treating each other with respect, laughing with each other, and making raising a Christian family a priority. I love hearing stories about them before we were born, like when my mom saved up her money shortly after they were married to surprise my dad with a bike, or thinking back on things when we were growing up, like when my mom and dad would do their famous short person baseball act at the Van Dyke Church of Christ Christmas party- and yes, it's as awesome as it sounds, and all of the stuff they continue to do (every time we go home they still kiss in front of us...). I know they are so successful because they are committed to each other, and have God in their marriage.

I hope that when I get married I have a marriage just like theirs. Thanks Mom and Dad for always being such an amazing example. You are one of the best and most fun couples I know!!!

Don't get me wrong, yes they are one the best couples I know, but along with the smiles and laughs, this is also a common look my mom uses with my dad.
